Kindergarten Class
Dear Parents, September, 2016
The Kindergarten kids are all settled in and ready for whatever new adventures may come their way. I have enjoyed working with all of your children so far and look forward to a fabulous year.
Here are some things the students will be working on in September:
Themes: Apples, (We will be celebrating Johnny Appleseed’s birthday on September 27th with
homemade by Mrs. Reitz chunky applesauce), All About Me and Autumn.
Color of the Month: RED Please help your child learn to read and spell the color word “red.”
Reading Readiness: Continue with previewing the alphabet, developing vocabulary through
listening and speaking, and listening to stories and singing songs. We will begin “Letter of the
Week” shortly.
Writing: Left to Right hand coordination, correct pencil grip, writing first name with beginning
letter upper case and the rest lower case, proper posture when writing.
Math: Counting practice, number recognition, comparing and ordering from 0-10, equal to, greater
than, less than, patterning, ordinal numbers to tenth, calendar activities, and graphing.
Science: The Five Senses
Social Studies: Patriotism, Good Citizenship, Rules and Safety.
Technology: Introduce Chromebooks

*Stickers for “I Love Stickers” Coupon Winners
*Individually wrapped hard candy for coupon winners
